Plastic waste can not only lead to physical impacts, like entanglement or ingestion, but it is suspected, that it can also lead to toxic impacts. In this publication, Naiara Casagrande, affiliated with the ATLANTIS project, has developed effect factors for additives that are used in plastic products.
The results of the 25 calculated effect factors varies by several orders of magnitude from 20.69 PAF·m3·kg−1 for diethylphtalate to 11081.85 PAF·m3·kg−1 for 4-Nonylphenol.
